- Do I need planning permission for an extension?
- Many single storey rear extensions fall under permitted development, but it depends on the size, the property and whether you are in a conservation area. We will tell you honestly at the first visit whether you are likely to need an application, and we can work alongside your architect or planning consultant.
- Do you handle building control?
- Yes. Structural work is carried out to meet building control requirements and we arrange inspections at the right stages. For steel work we will ask for calculations from a structural engineer.
- How long does a single storey extension take?
- Most take somewhere between eight and fourteen weeks depending on size, groundworks and how quickly decisions on finishes are made. You get a realistic programme with the quote rather than an optimistic one.
- Will I be given a fixed price?
- Where the scope is clear, yes. If part of the work cannot be seen until the property is opened up, that section is priced separately and agreed with you before we carry it out.
