The project

What the job involved

The challenge

Slipped and cracked tiles were letting water in, and leaking guttering was soaking the brickwork below.

The work

Damaged tiles were replaced and the ridge re-bedded in fresh mortar. Old guttering and downpipes were taken off and replaced, with fascias and soffits checked while access was up.

The result

A sound roof covering and rainwater goods that carry water away from the wall instead of into it.

FAQs

Roof Repair and New Guttering questions

If your question is not covered here, call or send a message and we will answer it directly.

Can slipped tiles be replaced without redoing the whole roof?
Often yes. Where the rest of the covering is sound, replacing damaged tiles and re-bedding the ridge is the sensible repair.
Why does the ridge need re-bedding?
Old mortar cracks and lets water in, and ridge tiles can work loose. Re-bedding and pointing in fresh mortar secures them again.
Do you replace guttering and downpipes as well?
Yes. Rainwater goods are usually the cause of damp brickwork, so we replace and re-fall them as part of the same visit.
Do you work at height safely?
Yes. Access is arranged to suit the property, using roof ladders, towers or scaffolding depending on the work.
Can you look at a leak before quoting?
Yes. We inspect first, tell you what we have found and then quote for the repair that is actually needed.
